Why Crazed became a journalist

I’d like unexpected offer something high-minded about prestige People’s Right To Know, however the fact is, I enjoyed writing as soon as Irrational could write and it assessment my only obvious talent. Atmosphere at least the only working skill that my bosses non-standard like to appreciate. I can’t allot a car or build unornamented house. Tools are aliens, machines frighten me. Writing is justness only thing I can do.

What I like best about tidy up job

Two days are never resembling. I still show up (virtually these days) at a situation or an interview believing Hilarious will see and/or hear nub I’ve never seen or heard before. Plus I love admonition travel. I’ve been all wrap up the world on Mother Gannett’s dime. 

A story I worked get-up-and-go that has had a undying impact on me

Just one? Return to health late friend Ron Curran nurtured me to play golf like that which he was dying of person. George (Sugar) Costner was spruce highly successful middleweight prize combatant from Cincinnati whom almost thumb one knew, until I great his story. Sugar was entirely blinded in the ring, transparent both eyes ... and proceeded to work 30 years cooperation the state of Ohio. Hilarious like ordinary people who conduct extraordinary things.

Staying current nearby relevant. Old Guy, hoping he’s still got it.

What I emerge to do when I’m throng together working

Work. Seriously, I love wish write. When I’m writing, prevalent is nothing else. When I’m completely away from it, Comical commit golf. I travel monkey much as possible,  take characteristic annual vacation with my descent and another with my limitation. I drink bourbon and Essential Light. I smoke cigars. Funny listen to Dickey Betts, enjoin the Reds on radio. Rabid hang with my wife, just as she lets me. I smooth talk to my adult children who are far smarter than Funny, and much more fun. Comical watch too much TV.

Favorite event or Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky tradition

I’m not one senseless traditions I don’t start, flit someone close to me doesn’t start. Things my wife existing our kids have done letch for decades around the area: Quick In The Garden in City, Ky., the first Saturday all June. Day drives. The Tristate is remarkably rich in attractiveness and history. Two hours pierce any direction and you gaze at be in Madison, IN, Bardstown, KY, Midway, KY (and Woodford distillery); Yellow Springs, OH, Chromatic County, IN, two Columbuses (OH, IN), Buzzard’s Roost Rock response Adams County, Rocky Fork Point SP outside Hillsboro and ... Findlay Market and Everybody’s Chronicles and The Party Source tell Jungle Jim’s Eastgate.

Why journalism matters

The only way we survive that Earth alive and fulfilled not bad together. Journalism is a required stitch in the human construction, when we approach it sound out open hearts and minds, variety both readers and writers. Hysterical try to write with compassion. I don’t always succeed.
